THE TREADWAYS DO DALLAS, PART 2

TREADING THEIR WAY ACROSS AMERICA: THE TREADWAYS DO DALLAS, PART 2

Here’s a brief intro for those who are newly following the Treadway road trip chronicles: For Sarah Treadway (President & Co-CEO of Magnolia Hotels), re-planning her family’s summer vacation a few months back was a no brainer. As the COVID-19 pandemic’s damaging effects on the hospitality industry became increasingly clear and the company furloughed hundreds of valuable team members, Sarah felt a deep desire to connect with & support the remaining few team members on property who are keeping our hotels safely open for business. Sarah & her husband, Shea, quickly hatched a major road trip plan: pack up their four children, their South African au pair, and enough supplies in a 32’ trailer for an eight-week trek across America to visit each of the six Magnolia Hotels!

On Day 3, the Treadways pulled up to Magnolia Downtown Dallas, parked the trailer (with no problems!) and began what turned out to be a wonderful week in the city.

Sarah & her family helped associates fold sheets (not as many as Sarah would have liked, but they put a nice dent in the load), made beds, & sent laundry down the shoot. Most importantly, Sarah got to have a meal & catch up with every one of the hotel’s team members.

Dallas is a resilient city with so much to do. In between working hours at the hotel, the Treadways were able to visit the Dallas Arboretum and the Zoo. Luckily, the Zoo morning was a pleasant 80 degrees, not 100. Perfect timing with that “cool” front!

On their last day in Dallas, the Treadways bought delicious Campisi’s Pizza for the brave men and women of the Engine 18 Dallas Fire Department. It was great to meet the firefighters and say “Thank you!” for their hard work. Sarah’s kids had just started climbing into the engine when the firefighters got called away! Watching the engine light up and drive away was a major highlight for the littles.

Also, what’s a stop in Dallas without a visit to the infamous giant Eyeball?

Onto Houston next…
