Magnolia Houston Announces The Completion Of A Major Hotel Renovation Project
Enhancements Made To All Meeting & Event Spaces, Rooms And Public Spaces
DENVER – June 25, 2019 – The Magnolia Houston, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, has completed a several year multifaceted renovation project which includes enhancements to the meeting spaces, ballroom, rooms/suites, and public spaces. The revival of the Magnolia Houston pays homage to its roots as the former Post Dispatch building and rich history as an iconic Houston building. The inspiration for the design is rooted deeply in the building’s history as a newspaper/radio conglomerate and the eclectic pulse of Houston as a bustling city. The atmosphere embraces a “Texas Parlor” rich in community and southern ambiance with the nostalgic feel of an era gone by.
“The completion of this renovation is a major milestone for the Magnolia Houston and we are excited to show off the history of the building alongside a chic new design that will delight any size group, meetings and leisure travelers,” said Edward Timmons, General Manager for Magnolia Houston. ”As one of the original boutique experiences in downtown Houston, this historic gem is an urban oasis for travelers looking to be in the heart of Houston’s bustling downtown.”
As the former home of the Houston Post Dispatch newspaper and later the corporate office for Shell Oil Company, the hotel underwent extensive renovations, and this 1926 historic landmark is now one of Houston’s most distinctive properties. Located in the heart of downtown, it is in the center of Houston’s rich arts and culture scene, renowned attractions including professional sports arenas, dining and eclectic shopping. The Magnolia Houston embraces a sophisticated and inviting design and each of the 314 rooms and suites are thoughtfully appointed with the comforts of home and a modern flair, as well as access to the rooftop pool and 24-hour fitness center.

Meeting Spaces
Magnolia Houston features more than 16,000 square feet of meeting space all in the ideal downtown Houston location- with spaces that truly embody the urban and eclectic vibe of downtown Houston. The meeting and event spaces encompasses the entire third floor and are ideally suited for maximum meeting productivity alongside gracious hospitality. Most of the spaces feature high ceilings, ample natural light and distinctive finishes and fixtures. Whether it’s an elegant reception in one of the two Ballrooms or a corporate social gathering, the property can accommodate groups of up to 300. The Magnolia Lounge, a unique open concept space, emits a relaxing vibe and adorns its walls with inspiring artwork. This space, approximately 6,000 square feet, can accommodate up to 200 guests. Additional side rooms offer extra space for fun activities such as photo booths, kid’s room and more. Additionally, the hotel boasts complimentary high-speed internet, state-of-the-art audiovisual and catering menus– all handled by professional, and experienced staff.
“Dark charcoals and deep indigos set an ink inspired palette along with subtle touchpoints like the typewriter keys outlining the columns and the printing press reception desk,” said Laura Hilpipre of OZ Architecture. “These elements give a nod to the Post-Dispatch Building’s original use. Contrast of bright polish and moody patinas along with the details in the ironwork and trim speak directly to the pulse and architecture of Houston. The thought was to create a distinctive design that defines the Magnolia Hotel brand and their ability to restore old buildings to the greatness they once were.”
